Salon 2: Relevancy and Art

Theme: How do we as artists define relevancy?

Some questions for us to consider / discuss:

  • Should artists aim for relevancy?

  • What does it mean when an artist says they want to be / should be relevant?

  • What is relevant / what are the trends / themes in art creation today?

  • As artists, is it our duty to comment on social/political/artistic trends? Is this reactive? Is that ok? How do we remain relevant without becoming part of an existing trend (if we don't want to be)?

It is the right and necessary step to face the questions of an unseen but highly important group of createurs who can and should lift (levare) themselves back (re) to their place in our global society.
